What is Oladoctor and how does it work?

Oladoctor is a healthcare marketplace that connects patients with independent doctors across Europe.

Doctors who offer their services via Oladoctor may provide online consultations, issue prescriptions, or prepare medical certificates – depending on their qualifications and the legal requirements in their country of practice.

Oladoctor facilitates the process by providing:

  • Patient booking and automated reminders

  • Secure video consultations via Google Meet

  • Payment processing through Stripe

How will I receive notifications about my appointments?

You’ll receive up to 4 reminders for each consultation:

  • Immediately after the booking

  • 24 hours before the consultation (if booked in advance)

  • 2 hours before – with a confirmation request

  • 15 minutes before the session starts

To avoid missing any reminders:

  • Check your spam or promotions folder

  • Add Oladoctor to your contacts

  • Note that Gmail may group multiple messages into one thread – the number next to the subject line shows how many are included

How are consultation fees and payments handled?

You receive the full amount that you set in your profile.

Oladoctor adds a platform commission on top of your fee – this covers:

  • Use of the marketplace tools (booking, video calls, reminders)

  • In some cases, services of a local doctor who issues prescriptions if legally required

Payments are processed via Stripe:

  • Funds are credited to your Stripe balance within 1–2 days after each consultation

  • The first payout to your bank account may take up to 10 days

  • Subsequent payouts usually arrive within 24 hours

How do I register and verify my account?

To activate your account, fill in your basic information and submit your profile request.

Within 72 hours, we’ll get in touch to schedule a short introductory call. After this call, your profile will be published and become visible to patients on the marketplace.

If you’d like to speak with us sooner, you can book a call directly.

Once your profile is approved, you’ll receive an email with a link to your public page – confirming that you’re ready to start accepting bookings.

What should I include in my profile?

To help patients choose the right doctor, make sure your profile includes:

  • Your full name and professional title (e.g., Doctor, PhD, Cardiologist)

  • Years of clinical experience

  • Your specialisation and main areas of focus

  • Languages you consult in

  • A recent photo (ideally in a professional or medical setting)

Example: PhD in Medicine, Therapist, Cardiologist. Over 15 years of experience. Focuses on cardiovascular health, hypertension, and post-COVID-19 recovery.

In addition, you’ll need to:

  • Set your consultation fee

  • Add available time slots in your profile schedule

You can update your profile, pricing, and schedule at any time.

How do I receive payments?

To get paid for consultations, you need to connect your own Stripe account. Oladoctor uses Stripe Connect, which allows you to receive payments directly.

During the setup process, Stripe may ask for:

  • Proof of residential address

  • A valid passport or residence permit

  • A bank account registered in your country of residence

This is part of Stripe’s standard identity verification for individual service providers.

Once your Stripe account is connected:

  • Funds are transferred to your Stripe balance within 1–2 days after each completed consultation

  • Payouts to your bank account are handled by Stripe (first payout may take up to 10 days, future ones – usually within 24 hours)

You can track all transactions and payouts in your Stripe dashboard.

If you currently use a Ukrainian bank account, contact our support team. We’re actively working on adding alternative payout methods (such as Revolut or Wise) and will let you know once they’re available.

How does scheduling work? (Buffer time and booking notice)

To help you manage your time and avoid back-to-back consultations, you can adjust two key settings in your profile:

Buffer time

This setting adds extra time before and/or after each consultation. It helps you prepare, write notes, or simply take a short break.

  • Before buffer – blocks time before a consultation (e.g. to review medical history)

  • After buffer – blocks time after a consultation (e.g. to write recommendations or rest)

Example: If your consultation is 30 minutes long and you add a 10-minute after buffer, the next available slot will appear 40 minutes later.

Minimum booking notice

This defines how soon a consultation can start after a patient books it. For example, if you set a 2-hour notice, patients won’t be able to book an appointment less than 2 hours in advance – giving you time to prepare.

You can update both settings in your availability section at any time.

How are consultations conducted?

All consultations take place via Google Meet. You’ll receive a video link automatically once a consultation is confirmed.

After each session, you’ll be prompted to complete a consultation form. This allows you to:

  • Add notes or medical recommendations

  • Upload any relevant documents

  • Issue a prescription, if you’re a local doctor and authorised to do so (button: "+Add prescription")

If issuing documents in the patient’s country requires a local doctor, you’ll see a button labelled "Fill the form". This allows you to submit clinical notes to a local colleague for further action. Based on this information, the local doctor may issue a prescription or other documents, in line with local regulations.

If no documents or notes are needed, click "No documents needed" to close the consultation.

Forms appear automatically after each consultation and remain accessible later for updates.

Final checklist before your first consultation

Before accepting bookings, make sure you have:

  • Completed your profile and submitted the required documents

  • Connected your Stripe account (or confirmed another payout method)

  • Added a profile photo and bio

  • Set your consultation fee and update your availability

  • Reviewed your buffer time and minimum booking notice

  • Received confirmation that your profile is active and visible to patients
