How long is a medical prescription valid in Portugal?
In Portugal, the validity of a medical prescription depends on the type of prescription issued. In general, standard medical prescriptions are valid for up to 12 months from the date of issue.
However, some medications may have a shorter validity period, as determined by the prescribing doctor or by applicable regulations. Once the prescription has expired, pharmacies are not allowed to dispense the medication.
