When can a doctor issue a referral?

Doctors can issue referrals for lab tests and diagnostic procedures if they consider them medically necessary. This decision is based on:

  • Your current symptoms

  • Your medical history

  • The doctor’s clinical assessment

  • Local healthcare regulations in your country

All clinical decisions are made independently by the doctor. Oladoctor does not influence or guarantee the outcome of any medical request.

What kinds of lab tests can I be referred for?

Below are examples of lab tests the doctor may recommend based on your symptoms and needs:

  • Complete blood count and biochemical blood tests

  • Urinalysis

  • Hormonal tests (e.g., thyroid, reproductive hormones)

  • Vitamin levels (e.g., vitamin D, vitamin B12)

  • Inflammatory markers (e.g., CRP, ESR)

  • HbA1c (for blood sugar control)

  • PCR and antibody tests for infections (including STIs)

  • Coagulation profile

  • Allergy panels

This is not a full list. The doctor will recommend only the tests relevant to your case.

What kinds of diagnostic procedures can be recommended?

The doctor may also refer you for diagnostic procedures if necessary, such as:

  • Ultrasound

  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

  • Computed tomography (CT scan)

  • X-ray

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG)

  • Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (gastroscopy)

  • Colonoscopy

  • Holter heart monitoring

These are examples — other types of imaging or procedures may be recommended depending on your situation.

Can I request a check-up plan?

Yes. If you’re planning a preventive check-up, the doctor can help build a personalized plan of tests and imaging based on:

  • Your age and gender

  • Medical history and lifestyle

  • Current symptoms or concerns

  • Known risk factors

To do this, book an Express Consultation with a general practitioner. The doctor will guide you through the next steps.
